What a great night out in Boston! I was honored to attend the Boston Globe "Globies" at the House of Blues. As the Globies site describes, "The Globies celebrates the dynamic New England sports scene and honors the athletes, teams and individuals that fuel the area’s passion for sports on and off the field".
I was in great company as I attended with Laurie Voke, the founder and CEO of the Female Fan Association and Jen Welter, the first female to have coached in the NFL. We started with a VIP reception where we chatted up with the one and only Dan Shaugnessy from the Globe and did some photo ops with Keith Foulke and Lenny DiNardo of the 2004 world champ Red Sox! We then headed downstairs for some food, drinks, and socializing before the awards began. Of course we had to get photos with Pat the Patriot and Lucky the Leprechaun to complete our collection.
Awards were given for the MVPs of the Patriots, Red Sox, Celtics, Bruins and Revolutiob. Awards were also given for Unsung Hero, Best Moment, Best College Athlete, Male Athlete of the Year, and Female Athlete of the Year. Linda Driscoll of Dream Big! won the 2017 Community Hero Editors’ Choice Globie Award.
